Signal - EXCERPT
Video, B&W, sound
3 minute 39 second excerpt of 9 minutes 38 seconds, 2017

Collaboration with sound artist Hemant Sreekumar. Footage from Charles and Ray Eames’ “Communication Primer” (1953), a seminal introduction to modern communication theory, is fed through a wobbulator along with signal noise and live camera feeds of Sreekumar playing the synthesizer. The disconnect between the Eames’ dreams of well-designed discourse and the piece’s breakdown into increasing chaos provides a metaphor for the inevitable clash between theory and actuality. 'Signal' was recorded in a single take using live analog video manipulation.
