AISLE 9

CALL FOR VIDEO SUBMISSIONS – DUE FEB 4, 2025

Video Submission for Aisle 9

We are hosting an open call for videos to be included on screens within the fictional world of Aisle 9, a short experimental narrative film by artist and filmmaker Alison Nguyen.

Context: The film, Aisle 9, is a work of speculative fiction that deals with cultural memory, censorship, and subversion of state control. In the final scene of the film, workers in a warehouse uncover boxes of censored cultural objects, including personal and poetic videos of everyday life. The videos submitted will be shown on a collection of screens layered throughout the background space of a warehouse. Aisle 9 will premiere in a public installation at the end of March and may have an additional cinema version.

To be included in this fictional world, share videos shot on your iPhone, your home movies, selfie videos, etc by Tuesday, February 4th. We are looking for imagery of people, places, and moments of your own world. Nothing is too idiosyncratic or inconsequential. Ideally, these videos would have been made recently, though we are open to those that date up to 15 years back.

Duration: At least 15 seconds, ideally longer.  No maximum restriction on length
Note: If you are sending a video and you would like to only use parts of it please indicate timecode
File format: .mp4, H264
Aspects Ratios: 16:9 or 9:16; 4:3 are also welcome
